How to Make Up Gift Hampers In Store: Boxes, Ribbon and Fill
A stockist's guide to making up gift hampers in store: choosing a box by price point, keeping products in place, ribbon by season, and filling it all from one Gourmet & Lifestyle Brands order.

A hamper you make up yourself earns more than one you buy in. You set the price point, you use stock already on your shelves, and you can say yes when a local business asks for twenty matching gifts. All it takes is the right hamper box, a roll of ribbon and a plan for what goes inside. Here is how to make gift hampers to sell, with the hamper supplies and the food to fill them in one Gourmet & Lifestyle Brands order.

Choose a hamper box by price point

Start with what you want to charge, then pick the box. Every wholesale hamper box in our Boxes & Ribbons range is sold by the carton, and most close with a magnetic lid that feels like a premium gift box from the first opening.

Box Size Best for
Drawer Box (M) White 35 x 25 x 11cm Thank-you gifts and Kris Kringle
2WM Black 36 x 22 x 11cm A slim gift: one bottle or a few jars
3WM Black, White or Kraft 36 x 32 x 11cm The all-rounder for mid-range hampers
Kraft L or NC4 White L 34 x 31 x 15cm Tins and taller jars
4WM Black or 4WC White 36 x 43 x 11cm Your feature hamper
NM8 Black Square 36 x 36 x 21cm Bulky gift packs, stacked

Black reads as premium and corporate, kraft as artisan, and white suits weddings and bright ribbon.

Stop things moving

The black box insert sits inside our 36cm-long boxes and holds bottles and jars snugly in place. It does not fit the smaller NW3 box.

Finish with wholesale ribbon

Our bulk ribbon comes in two kinds, both on 100-yard (91.4m) rolls. The satin is 38mm wide with a smooth, glossy finish. The crossgrain is 28.5mm wide with a ribbed weave that holds a bow well. Allow about 1.5m per box with a bow, so one roll finishes around 60 hampers.

How to tie ribbon on a hamper box

  1. Run the ribbon under the box lengthways and bring both ends up to the centre of the lid.
  2. Cross them, turn one end 90 degrees and take it around the width of the box.
  3. Knot it at the crossing point, tie the bow on top and cut the tails on an angle so they do not fray.

Fill it from the same order

Build each hamper around one hero item, then add something savoury, something sweet and something to share. Gift-ready packs make this easy:
